THIS POST IS WORK-IN-PROGRESS!!! (Picture Screenshots Coming Soon)
- 1 - Choosing the game (Old websites with more demos & full games that were removed R.I.P)
The games must have at least a 2 player feature.
But you can have up to 8 players with multitap depending on which ePSXe emulator version has it.
If the iso format is in an .ecm format use unecm tools by dragging the game into the program
(Which will open the program and disable ecm letting you to play it normally)
PS: Remember the days when they didn't put ecm inside of isos so players didn't ask for guides? ahhh

Choosing your ePSXe version
ePSXe 1.5.2 & ePSXe 1.6.0 & below don't have a multitap feature as far as I know;
However in ePSXe 1.7.0 the emulator has been set to work with 4 and above players
What must be set:
- Both of the players must have;
The exactly same ePSXe & Version
- Both of the players must use:
The exactly same ePSXe plugins;
(Video & Sound Plugins, Cdrom Plugin, Bios, Netplay Plugins, Memory Cards & The games)
- BEST BACKUP METHOD
***ALWAYS SCREENSHOT EVERY PLUGIN, EVERY SUB-PLUGIN, EVERY OPTIONS FROM ALL MENUS & ALL SETTING BOXES
***AND SAVE IT AND BACK IT UP NOBODY BUT YOU IS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN FAULT'S
(Method #1 - To printscreen on your windows keyboard you should have a PrtSc button above the home button beside numeric keyboard and numlock
Press it to printscreen & press start and type in paint and then Ctrl+V to paste the picture)
(Method #2 - To printscreen just a window and not the entire desktop screen hold Alt+PrtScr and follow the same principle with paint and backing it up)
***I WOULD RECOMMEND TO SAVE THE PICTURES, RENAME THEM TO THE SETTINGS NAME & MAKING A FOLDER WITH THE PLAYERS NAME IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE IT
Both of the players must use the exactly same Plugin Settings & ISOS;
-
To avoid any errors if you already have an ePSXe folder?
Make sure before doing anything that for any new settings
That you always create a new folder for ePSXe
Which then enables the registry in regedit
& If you want to reset the emulator with the same name that you always delete the registry first and then delete it and re-do it
If you have for example ePSXe 1.7.0 in the D:\ePSXe 1.7.0 folder
If you are using more versions make sure to
Put all Video & Sound Plugins, Cdrom Plugin, Bios, Netplay Plugins, Memory Cards & The games in a folder before the main directory for
The emulator:
Such as this (The drive partition choice is up to you)
D:\All ePSXe Versions & Inside that a Singpleplayer & Multiplayer Folder
Then every D:\All ePSXe Versions\SP & MP Folder should have:
D:\All ePSXe Versions\SP or MP Folder\Plugins & Shaders
D:\All ePSXe Versions\SP or MP Folder\Netplay Plugins
D:\All ePSXe Versions\SP or MP Folder\ePSXe Bios
D:\All ePSXe Versions\SP or MP Folder\Memcards & Also a folder for every game!
- 3 -
& If you have other emulators other then ePSXe you would be better off with creating this D:\All PSX Games
Sometimes if you use a specific plugin it is meant specifically for that ePSXe version or that PSX emulator and not for older or newer emus
As there might have been a downgraded or upgraded version which the other version might not use!
Which is why if able you must always link the correct plugins to the correct epsxe folders & especially versions.
If you or the other player's ePSXe crashes it is a sign of a file error where between one of the players there is a small change or using
Different plugins so always make sure to test the plugins to see if they're working as they're supposed to and don't forget to test memcards and add file paths.

Controllers:
Right after setting up the major plugins you must set-up your port 1 > pad 1 controller only don't configure port 1 pad 2.
Remember port 1 is always for player 1 and port 2 is for player 2 but both players must only play on they're pad 1's and pad 2 on port 1 or 2 should always be disabled
In the top right setting where it gives you BIOS such as [SCPH-1080] Digital (Preferably if both of the players don't have an actual sony controller without dualshock sticks
This option would most likely be suitable or if one of the players use a keyboard but otherwise; the DualShock or DualAnalog should be othewise ideal.
Personally I don't know how the one with mouse works and don't know many games with the mouse & digital setting but you can test it along with your friends.

Netplay (Online Multiplayer)
I am referring netplay to online multiplayer because multiplayer and online are 2 different things unlike most people would assume they both being the same but it's a big difference
Multiplayer in the older days meant an extra controller with a 2nd player but then roundabout when online came up people started mixing them up with online too but online
Is of course with a remote controller however netplay is working with such a functionality that multiplayer and online is technically the same because it behaves like a multiplayer
Because of the controller that you both share on your own computer but remotely it sends data to all ports and pads.
Cyberpad (Cpka 1.4) & Kailleraclient is what we will use for netplaying

Regions
Make sure to always download the same regioned games if the game is a PAL it is directed to europe & australia.
If the game is NTSC-U it is referring to north america specifically and if it's ntsc-j it's japanese.
Make sure to always use autodetect regardless of which region you are playing because
You might switch between regions for every iso (which must be same) and might not even realize why it's not working.
To find the autodetect go to epsxe > options > country >autodetect
(Which as it says will always direct to the correct region)
